RTD I-225 Light Rail Construction Project Town Hall

Wednesday, January 30, 5:30 to 8:00 pm
Aurora Municipal Center
Council Chamber
15151 E. Alameda Parkway
Aurora
Bus: 130, 133, 153 (Within walking distance of the 3, 6, and 15L)

This will be an opportunity to find out what is happening with the I-225 Light Rail project. I would like to know why RTD is still looking for financing to expand a parking lot that voters think is big enough already.

Boulder Needs a New RTD Rep for District O

John Tayer has stepped down has the representative for District O. So the the commissioners of Boulder County are looking for a replacement. If you think that could be you, submit a letter of interest and a resume to mkrezek@bouldercounty.org by 4:30 pm on Thursday, January 17.  The letter of interest should include professional and volunteer experience working on transit and/or working on projects requiring regional collaboration.

Applicants must live in District O which includes the towns of Nederland, Jamestown, Lyons, Superior, Boulder, Louisville and unincorporated Boulder County west of 95th Street. Applicants must also be available for Board meetings on Tuesdays at 5:30 pm near Market Street Station in downtown Denver.

I am hoping that Boulder County gets a representative that better represents the people who actually take the bus. We need to have someone who supports families, including single mothers and their children. We need someone who at least realizes that not everyone is white. We need someone who knows that Latinos have always lived in Boulder County.

Let's Push for Better Transit in Lakewood

Downtown Lakewood Connectivity Plan
Tuesday, January 22, 6 to 7:30 pm
Lakewood City Council Chambers
480 S. Allison Parkway
Lakewood
Bus: 1, 3, 11, 76

If we do not push for better bus service, we will not get it. Lakewood might fund bus service to connect downtown to the rest of Lakewood. I am hoping that people will go to this meeting to push for exactly that.

I am also hoping that the city planner will be open to citizen suggestions.

Can we exchange our 2012 tickets at King Soopers?

According to RTD's website, tickets from 2012 10-Ride Ticket Books (up to 10 ticket books) can be exchanged at any RTD sales outlet. Does that mean that places like King Soopers as well as the RTD run ticket offices? The cost of the tickets we have not used can be applied to the purchase of 2013 tickets or to monthly or daily passes.

We can also exchange our ticket books by mail. Just mail any expired tickets to RTD Accounting Office, P.O. Box 9769, Denver, CO 80209-0769. Make sure you send your name, address, phone number, what you want to get in exchange, and a check or money order if you want to purchase something that costs more than the value of your old tickets. This is the procedure to follow for more than 10 ticket books.

We cannot get refunds.

The last day to exchange tickets is June 30, 2013.

CDOT is presenting to Colorado's Joint Budget Committee Tomorrow

Thursday, January 3 at 1:30 pm
Joint Budget Committee Hearing Room
Legislative Service Building, 3rd Floor
200 East 14th Avenue
Denver, CO 80203
Bus: 6, 15, 15L

We need to stop building roads that we cannot afford to repair. Rep. Max Tyler, head of the Transportation Committee, says that he agrees with this. He says that people who work for the Colorado Department of Transportation agree with this. I wonder if that is what we are going to hear tomorrow.

I am also curious to see if CDOT presentation is clear and well-organized as most of their presentations seem not to be.
